Paying With Credit Cards

You can pay with a credit card in person at any library's circulation desk or online. Credit card payments can not be taken over the phone.

What credit cards do you accept?

Currently the Library accepts Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.

Can I choose to pay only part of a fine?

If you have multiple fines and fees on your account you can choose to select specific charges rather than the entire sum. You may also pay a portion of any one fine/fee.

Is there a minimum I have to pay?

There is no minimum.

Is the transaction secure?

The Library is using an SSL certificate for all transactions. SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer. This is a method of encryption which encodes data sent over the World Wide Web, designed to allow only the intended recipients to receive the information in readable form. The library uses SSL when you pay fines online. Most Web browsers will show a padlock image on the screen to indicate you are using a secure site. Our encryption is provided by VeriSign.

How long does it take before my fines are removed from my account?

The adjustment is made to your account immediately.

Can I pay for my child's fines using my credit card?

Yes, as long as you enter your name and billing information, the system will allow payment even if the patron account belongs to someone else.

Whose name should I enter when paying by credit card?

You should enter your name, as it appears on your credit card. This is used for verification by the credit card processor.

Can I get a refund?

Payments for fines and processing fees cannot be refunded. If you have found an item which you previously lost and paid for, you can get a refund on the cost of the item within 30 days of your payment. Please contact the Circulation Manager at your local branch. Refunds cannot be processed without a receipt of payment. Refunds will be paid via check.

Do I have to pay the full amount of my fines in order to remove a block on my account?
No, you don't have to pay the full amount owed. Your account is blocked if your total fines owed exceeds $10 on adult cards or $5 on children's cards. If you pay enough fines to reduce the balance below those levels, you will be able to resume using your library card.
